Blinkit brings Bharat Yatra Card, will give access to transport in Indian cities

In a move to simplify public transportation payments, the government-backed National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), also known as the Bharat Yatra Card, is now available for purchase online through Blinkit. Powered by RuPay and issued by Pine Labs, the contactless card enables users to travel across NCMC-enabled metro and bus networks in multiple cities with ease.

What is the Bharat Yatra Card?

The Bharat Yatra Card is part of India’s NCMC initiative aimed at standardizing public transport payments across major cities. It supports contactless transactions on metro rail, buses, and other transit systems that support the NCMC standard. Currently, support is limited to select metro cities, but expansion is expected as more urban transit systems upgrade their fare collection infrastructure.

How to Purchase the Card

Priced at just Rs 50, the Bharat Yatra Card can be conveniently ordered online via platforms such as Blinkit, Zepto, and Flipkart. Delivery services are already operational in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

How Does It Work?

Once received, the card requires no activation or paperwork, thanks to its zero-KYC model. Users can instantly top-up the card using UPI, eliminating the need to visit physical recharge counters. To travel, simply tap the card at NCMC-compatible metro gates or bus terminals—fare is deducted automatically, akin to contactless payment systems used in cities like London, Singapore, or Dubai, or Delhi Metro’s contactless cards.

Where Can You Use It?

Currently, the Bharat Yatra Card functions on select metro and bus networks supporting NCMC in major cities, with plans for broader integration in the future.

Who Should Use It?

Ideal for frequent intercity travelers, recent movers still learning local transit systems, and daily commuters seeking a hassle-free alternative to managing multiple transit cards, the Bharat Yatra Card offers a convenient, unified solution for urban mobility.
