The reigning champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), reaffirmed their title credentials with a commanding 43-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2026.
RCB posted a formidable total of 250 runs, showcasing their explosive batting lineup. In response, CSK struggled to keep pace, bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs. Abhinandan Singh sealed the victory by dismissing Matt Henry, who holed out to Phil Salt in the deep during the final moments of the innings.
The brief resistance from CSK’s middle order was not enough to threaten RCB’s dominance. Anshul Kamboj managed a few singles, but the match was effectively over as a contest. Despite the batting-friendly conditions, RCB’s disciplined bowling unit held their nerve, successfully defending their massive total.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout with the ball, claiming three wickets and conceding just 10 runs in his spell. His variations troubled the CSK batsmen throughout the innings, including a cameo from Noor Ahmad, who briefly entertained with a six off a knuckleball before falling to Bhuvneshwar.
CSK’s chase faltered early, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Suyash Sharma was exceptional, taking key wickets including Jamie Overton, who holed out on the first ball of his spell. Sharma’s clever mix of googlies and accurate lengths finished with impressive figures, effectively shutting down CSK’s hopes.
By the 17th over, CSK had slipped to 180/8, with the game well out of reach. Despite a late effort from Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad, the damage was done, and the match ended with CSK falling short.
This victory marks a strong start for RCB in the new season, as they continue their winning streak and affirm their status as title contenders.
