Legendary Filmmaker Ramanand Sagar’s Son Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra Passes Away at 84; Funeral Held in Mumbai

Mumbai, February 13, 2026 — Anand Ramanand Sagar Chopra, the son of renowned filmmaker and producer Ramanand Sagar, passed away at the age of 84 in Mumbai after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s disease. The funeral rites were conducted in Mumbai today, with family and close friends present to pay their final respects.

Anand Sagar’s family shared the heartbreaking news through an official statement, expressing their grief and requesting prayers for his peaceful passing. The last rites took place at 4:30 PM at Hindu Smashan Bhumi (Pavan Hans) in Mumbai. The family issued a heartfelt appeal, saying, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Anand Ramanand Sagar. We request your prayers and blessings for his peaceful journey.”

Anand had been unwell for over a decade, battling Parkinson’s disease, which gradually affected his health. Despite his illness, he remained a respected figure in the Indian television and film industry, contributing significantly to mythological and entertainment productions.

Members of the film fraternity and family members attended the ceremony. Actress Bhagyashree was seen arriving at the funeral held in Juhu. However, the event was largely a quiet affair, with no prominent personalities making public appearances.
