Neena Gupta, who was 62 years old at the time, put up a picture on Instagram asking for work almost ten years ago. “I live in Mumbai and work,” she wrote. I’m a good actress looking for roles.” The result was Badhaai Ho and Neena Gupta’s huge comeback.

In 2026, actor Meenakshi Seshadri asked her fans on Instagram to wish her luck as she started her second career in Bollywood. The star, who turned 62 today, wants her own Badhaai Ho moment.

The singer, who was one of the biggest stars in the late 1980s and early 1990s, said on Monday morning that she had moved back to Mumbai, her “karmabhoomi,” after living in the US for 30 years.

“A warm namaste to all of my new Instagram followers!” Today I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your love, support, and encouragement. “After 30 long years, I have moved to my karmabhoomi, Mumbai, India, and have stepped back into the entertainment industry with hope, passion, and positivity,” she said in the Instagram video.

Meenakshi Seshadri’s first movie role was in Painter Babu in 1983. She quit Bollywood when her career was at its peak. But he became famous very quickly with Subhash Ghai’s movie Hero, which came out later that same year and starred Jackie Shroff.

Shahenshah, Meri Jung, Damini, and Ghayal were some of the movies that came after. After leaving the movie business in 1995, she went to the US with her husband, investment banker Harish Mysore, to have a quieter family life. They have two kids together.

She also knows how to dance Bharatanatyam. In her video, the actor said, “I’m really looking forward to meaningful opportunities, whether it’s a lead role, a supporting character, or even a short show.” Plus, it doesn’t matter as long as the show is powerful. It could be movies or shows on demand.

“As an artist, I want to try out roles that push me and help me find new ways to do what I do.” I did get a lot of offers, but some weren’t interesting enough and some just didn’t happen. But I’m in charge of this trip by myself, without any help. During this time, your help means the world to me. I live and work in India most of the time, but I visit my family in the USA every once in a while. “And sometimes going somewhere else in between,” she added.

This is what the actor told her fans: “I’m not here to prove any point.” “I’m just here with my family’s love and support.” Just doing what makes me truly happy.”

“I ask that you keep supporting me by giving me feedback and getting the word out.” Because every day your faith and your gifts make me stronger. “Thanks.”

She wrote, “Dear friends, this is a message to you all from Boston, USA” in the post’s description. I’m here to enjoy the graduation of my son from Harvard. And have a great summer with my family. “I’d like to let you know that since I moved to India, I’ve been looking for more work in the entertainment business. There have been offers, but they either weren’t interesting enough or didn’t work out. I want the best hopes and blessings of all of you wonderful fans. Who knows, maybe two of you will help me make a comeback in Bollywood.

In her Instagram posts, Meenakshi Seshadri has shared videos of herself dancing to songs from her movies and even doing traditional Indian dances like Bharatanatyam and Odissi.

Badhaai Ho by Neena Gupta came out a year after she shared that video. We hope Meenakshi Seshadri gets hers soon.
