Chennai – Fans of superstar Thalapathy Vijay are voicing frustration over the ongoing delay in the release of his highly anticipated film, Jana Nayagan. The film, initially scheduled to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, has been postponed due to legal and certification hurdles, prompting supporters to call on the filmmakers to withdraw their case against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and adhere to proper procedures for a smooth release.
The controversy intensified after the Madras High Court set aside a previous order that directed the CBFC to issue a UA 16+ certification for the film. The court has now referred the matter back to a lower court judge, asking for an expedited decision. As a result, Jana Nayagan remains uncertified, delaying its release indefinitely.
Fans took to social media to express their displeasure, urging the film’s producers, led by KVN, to withdraw the legal case and cooperate with the CBFC. Industry analyst Ramesh Bala stated that if the makers cooperate with the certification process, the film could potentially be released by mid-February 2026, possibly by February 14.
Supporters also suggested that Vijay might issue an apology or clarification to the CBFC, similar to previous gestures, to facilitate an early resolution. Experts warn that without proper adherence to certification norms, the film’s release could be further delayed until May 2026 due to procedural delays.
Currently, Jana Nayagan lacks an official release date. The film, directed by H. Vinoth, features Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju, with notable appearances by Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Priyamani. Fans remain hopeful that a prompt resolution will allow the movie to reach theaters soon.
