Iran is being defiant on the eve of a ceasefire deadline set by US President Donald Trump. Cars are driving near a -US billboard in Tehran

Iran and Israel are trading attacks. Tehran is refusing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and accept a ceasefire deal.

On Tuesday Iran and Israel attacked each other. Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz. They also do not want to accept a ceasefire deal. This is happening before a deadline set by US President Donald Trump.

Iran refused a US proposal. The proposal was for a ceasefire and for Iran to lift its blockade of the strait. Then there would be talks on a peace settlement within 15 to 20 days.

The Iranian response had 10 points. These included an end to conflicts in the area. There would also be a plan for passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Sanctions would be lifted. There would be reconstruction.

On Monday Trump said the whole country could be taken out in one night. He said that night might be Tuesday night. He promised to destroy power plants and infrastructure. This would happen if Tehran did not agree before the deadline.

If there is no deal Trump said every bridge in Iran would be destroyed. This would happen by midnight on Wednesday. He also said every power plant in Iran would be out of business. They would be. Exploding.

Fighting is still happening.

Early on Tuesday Israel said it had completed airstrikes. These targeted Iranian government infrastructure in Tehran and other areas. Israel was also operating air defence systems. They were intercepting missiles launched from Iran.

Saudi Arabia intercepted missiles. These were heading towards its region. Debris fell near energy facilities.

Saudi Arabia has been attacked by hundreds of missiles and drones. This has been happening since the US and Israel started a war on Iran on February 28. Most of these were intercepted.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain issued public safety alerts on Tuesday.

Trump said he was not worried about his promise to destroy power plants. He said it would not be war crimes.

“I hope I don’t have to do it ” he said.

Irans envoy to the United Nations said Trumps threat was ” incitement to terrorism”. They said it was evidence of intent to commit war crimes.

Irans deputy sports minister, Alireza Rahimi asked artists and athletes to form chains. They would do this at power plants across the country on Tuesday.

A synagogue in Tehran was heavily damaged by a US- projectile on Tuesday.

Oil prices are around $110 per barrel. This is happening as Trumps deadline is near. There is chance that the Strait of Hormuz will reopen.

Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. This is a global oil transit point. It has caused inflation worries worldwide.

Brent crude futures rose 0.4% to $110.19 a barrel. US West Texas Intermediate crude futures climbed 0.8% to $113.31.

Trump is in a situation. Iran is proving to be an opponent than he thought. The conflict started to stop Iran from building weapons.

Thirteen US service members have been killed since the conflict began. A US F-15E fighter jet was downed on Friday. One of the two airmen was left stranded inside Iranian territory.

A rescue mission, by US commandos helped avert a crisis.

Thousands of people have been killed across the Middle East in the war. 3,546 People were killed in Iran. 1,500 People were killed in Lebanon.
