Shivam Dube, Varun Chakravarthy star as India national cricket team beat Netherlands national cricket team by 17 runs in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Dube smashed a career-best 66 off just 31 balls, registering his maiden T20 World Cup fifty and helping India post a challenging total of 193 for 6 after electing to bat first. His explosive knock, combined with a late surge alongside Hardik Pandya, revived India’s innings after early setbacks.

India were struggling at 110 for 4 in the 14th over following the dismissals of Ishan Kishan (18), Tilak Varma (31), and captain Suryakumar Yadav (34). However, Dube and Pandya added a crucial 76 runs in just 35 balls for the fifth wicket, powering India to a strong finish. The pair hit nine sixes between them, with India scoring 75 runs in the final five overs.

For the Netherlands, spinner Aryan Dutt delivered an impressive spell, taking 2 for 19 and putting India under pressure early in the innings.

In reply, the Netherlands fought hard but were restricted to 176 for 7. Chakravarthy starred with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for just 14 runs in three overs to play a decisive role in India’s victory.

Despite the win, concerns remain over opener Abhishek Sharma, who was dismissed for his third consecutive duck and fifth duck of the year, continuing a difficult run of form.

With the victory, defending champions India finished unbeaten in the league stage, winning all four matches and topping Group A. The team will now take a short break before facing South Africa national cricket team in their first Super 8 match at the same venue.

India also extended their record to 12 consecutive wins in T20 World Cup matches, highlighting their dominance in the tournament.
