The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi, marked World Cancer Day 2026 through a series of awareness campaigns and academic activities organized by the Centre for Integrative Oncology (CIO). The event underscored the institute’s dedication to cancer prevention, early detection, and holistic care through Ayurveda.

Kicking off on February 3, 2026, student-focused activities such as a Slogan Competition and an Essay Writing Competition aimed to foster creativity and raise awareness among young minds about cancer prevention and integrative healthcare.

The main observance took place on February 4, with participation from distinguished academicians, clinicians, researchers, and students. The event began with an inaugural ceremony attended by notable dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Pradeepkumar Prajapati, Director of AIIA; Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Medical Superintendent; and other senior officials.

During the morning session, patients and attendants received education on early warning signs of cancer, lifestyle risk factors, and the role of Ayurveda in supportive care and prevention. The speeches emphasized the growing cancer burden and the importance of Ayurveda-based integrative oncology approaches.

In the afternoon, a guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Ashok Patel from IIT Delhi, who shared insights into the molecular and genomic aspects of cancer, highlighting interdisciplinary research opportunities. The session also featured the presentation of the CIO’s activities in 2025, showcasing ongoing research, awareness initiatives, and patient care programs.

The event culminated with the release of the CIO Information Brochure, aimed at spreading awareness of Ayurveda-driven oncology services. Winners of the slogan and essay competitions were felicitated for their creative contributions to cancer awareness.

Prof. (Dr.) Pradeepkumar Prajapati, in his presidential address, stressed the vital role of Ayurveda in cancer prevention, immunity boosting, and holistic patient care, reaffirming AIIA’s commitment to advancing evidence-based integrative oncology.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Pramod Yadav, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and organizers in making the World Cancer Day observance a success.
