Parasakthi, which released in theaters on January 10, has garnered praise for its compelling performances, notably from lead stars Sivakarthikeyan, Atharvaa, and Ravi Mohan. Alongside the main cast, supporting actors like Dev Ramnath have also received positive feedback from audiences. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Dev shares insights into his acting career, his experience working with director Sudha Kongara, and the motivation behind his craft.

Though Dev Ramnath has been in the industry for over a decade, recent recognition has come through his role as Kamal, an IPS officer in Sudha Kongara’s Parasakthi. The film, a historical drama emphasizing themes of brotherhood, resilience, and solidarity, features Dev in a pivotal supporting role that has caught viewers’ attention.

In the interview, Dev revealed that he initially aspired to be a sportsman, with cricket being his passion. “I genuinely wanted to pursue cricket, but for various reasons, that didn’t materialize. Acting was always my passion, so I started with theatre. One opportunity led to another, and I eventually began working in short films and then in movies,” he explained.

Parasakthi marks his ninth film, with credits including Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Oru Naal Koothu, Vellaipookal, and Pechi. He also features in web series like Happy To Be Single and PubGoa. Beyond acting, Dev serves as the film’s creative producer, emphasizing the challenges of juggling multiple roles. “Over the last 10 years, I’ve balanced acting and behind-the-scenes work. It’s been a steep learning curve, and despite hurdles, the experience with Parasakthi was truly rewarding,” he shared.

Reflecting on his collaboration with director Sudha Kongara, Dev expressed high regard for her work ethic. “Working alongside her was extraordinary. She adopts a ‘tunnel vision’ approach, focusing completely on the goal. I have nothing but praise for her and would love to work with her again. It was truly motivating,” he said. He also praised his co-stars, especially Ravi Mohan, whose experience he appreciated during their scenes together.

Offering advice to aspiring actors, Dev emphasized the importance of creating opportunities. “It’s easier to get into the industry, but climbing to the top is much tougher,” he noted. Looking ahead, he expressed a desire to continue working on projects with meaningful content that leave a lasting impact on audiences.

As Parasakthi continues to draw attention, Dev Ramnath’s rising profile and insights reflect his dedication to both craft and creativity in Indian cinema.
