San Francisco:

It has been claimed that Elon Musk has fired further staff members from his social networking platform X. Musk is currently occupied with endorsing Donald Trump for the highly anticipated US presidential election on November 5.

According to a report in The Verge, which cited posts on the workplace forum Blind and sources inside X, X has experienced a fresh round of layoffs that mostly affect its engineering department.

“It is yet unclear how many jobs will be eliminated. These reductions occur only two months after employees were expected to provide a one-page brief to management outlining their contributions to the business, according to the report.

X and Musk have not yet responded to the report.

According to reports, the tech tycoon recently emailed X employees regarding their eagerly awaited stock allocations, but there was a catch.

The social media company intended to give stock options to employees depending on their expected effect, according to an email sent to staff members that The Verge was able to view.

“That means staff have to submit a one-page summary telling leadership their contributions to the company in order to get their stock,” the article stated.

In light of the company’s ongoing difficulties under Musk’s leadership, workers have been anticipating additional layoffs.

After Musk acquired X (then known as Twitter) in 2022, he fired almost 6,000 workers, or about 80% of the company’s workforce.

Employees were compelled to defend their positions and even make decisions about whether to keep their own coworkers.

Product development, design, and diversity and inclusion teams were among the divisions that were impacted by the layoffs. Not even the content moderation crew at Twitter was exempt.

The’safety’ department at X, which was in charge of preventing offensive content online, reportedly lost 1,000 employees in January of this year. Software developers who worked on “trust and safety issues” made up 80% of this group.
