India’s Foreign Ministry issued a strong statement condemning the attack, calling it “a cowardly and unconscionable act of violence” that resulted in the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives. The statement emphasized that the hospital, Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul, was a civilian facility and by no means a legitimate military target. India accused Pakistan of attempting to “dress up a massacre as a military operation” and warned that such reckless actions threaten regional stability.
The Indian government also highlighted that the attack occurred during the holy month of Ramzan, a period marked by peace, reflection, and mercy among Muslims worldwide. The timing of the strike, according to India, makes it even more reprehensible. The Foreign Ministry called upon the international community to hold those responsible accountable and urged Pakistan to cease targeting civilians.
India extended its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and expressed solidarity with the people of Afghanistan during this difficult time. It reiterated its unwavering support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s deputy government spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat reported that the strike destroyed large sections of the hospital, which has a capacity of 2,000 beds. The death toll has reached approximately 400, with around 250 injured, as rescue teams work tirelessly amid the chaos. The attack follows recent border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan, which have intensified tensions in the region.
