Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor’s latest film O Romeo has crossed the ₹75 crore mark worldwide, even as box office collections slowed at the start of its second week.
Day 8 Collections Hit Lowest Level
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated ₹2.25 crore net in India on its second Friday, marking its lowest single-day collection so far. The film recorded a gross of ₹2.68 crore from 2,968 shows, with an average occupancy of 9.6%, reflecting a slowdown after its strong opening week.
Worldwide Collections Cross ₹75 Crore
Despite the recent dip, the film has maintained solid overall performance. Its all-India net collection currently stands at ₹49.35 crore, with a domestic gross total of ₹58.15 crore. Overseas earnings of ₹17 crore have pushed the film’s worldwide gross to approximately ₹75.15 crore.
Biggest Post-Pandemic Opener for Shahid Kapoor
O Romeo has emerged as Shahid Kapoor’s biggest opening film since the COVID-19 pandemic, collecting ₹30 crore net during its debut weekend. It surpassed the opening figures of his recent films, including Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which earned ₹27.10 crore net, and Deva, which collected ₹19.15 crore net in their respective opening weekends.
However, after the strong initial performance, the film witnessed a steady decline during weekdays, with collections dropping to ₹4.85 crore on its first Monday and continuing to fall through the week.
Film Eyes ₹100 Crore Milestone
Trade analysts say the film’s future box office performance will depend on audience word-of-mouth and weekend growth. While its worldwide gross could approach the ₹100 crore mark, it remains uncertain whether its domestic net collections will achieve the same milestone.
The film currently ranks among Shahid Kapoor’s top-grossing releases, with only Kabir Singh and Padmaavat achieving significantly higher box office milestones in his career.
