‘One Battle After Another’ Dominates BAFTA Awards 2026 with Six Wins; Robert Aramayo, Jessie Buckley Take Top Acting Honours

London: Politically charged thriller One Battle After Another emerged as the biggest winner at the 2026 EE British Academy Film Awards, securing six major honours including Best Film and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson. The film’s sweeping success has strengthened its momentum ahead of the upcoming Oscars.

Blues-inspired vampire epic Sinners and gothic horror spectacle Frankenstein also performed strongly, winning three awards each across major and technical categories. Meanwhile, Shakespearean drama Hamnet was named Outstanding British Film.

Major Acting Awards Announced

Jessie Buckley won Best Leading Actress for her performance in Hamnet, earning widespread acclaim for her portrayal. In the Best Leading Actor category, Robert Aramayo secured the award for his role in I Swear, beating strong contenders including Leonardo DiCaprio.

In supporting roles, Wunmi Mosaku won Best Supporting Actress for Sinners, while veteran actor Sean Penn claimed Best Supporting Actor for his performance in One Battle After Another.

Key Film and Creative Category Winners

One Battle After Another also won Best Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography and Editing, further cementing its dominance. Sinners won Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Score, highlighting its creative strength.

Technical categories were largely dominated by Frankenstein, which won Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hair, and Best Production Design. Meanwhile, Avatar: Fire and Ash won Best Special Visual Effects, and F1 took home the Best Sound award.

International and Special Category Winners

Norwegian drama Sentimental Value won Best Film Not in the English Language, while political documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin won Best Documentary. Animated sequel Zootropolis 2 was named Best Animated Film, and family feature Boong won Best Children’s and Family Film.

Robert Aramayo also received the EE Rising Star Award, recognising his growing influence in the global film industry.

Momentum Builds Ahead of Oscars

With six major wins, One Battle After Another has emerged as a leading awards contender heading into the Oscars. Strong performances by Sinners, Frankenstein and Hamnet also underline their critical and industry recognition, setting the stage for an intense awards season finale.
