The United States congratulated India on its 77th Republic Day, emphasizing the strong bilateral ties and shared strategic goals. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio conveyed his best wishes, highlighting the importance of the US-India relationship in fostering cooperation across defense, energy, critical minerals, and regional security through the Quad alliance.

In a special message, Rubio stated, “On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of India on your Republic Day. The United States and India share a historic bond. From our close cooperation on defence, energy, critical minerals, and emerging technologies to our multi-layered engagement through the Quad, the US-India relationship delivers real results for our two countries and for the Indo-Pacific region.” He expressed eagerness to continue working together in the coming year to advance mutual objectives.

The Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs also issued greetings to India, noting, “Happy Republic Day, India! The US joins the people of India in celebrating your country’s adoption of the Constitution, and we look forward to seeing what the world’s two largest and vibrant democracies will achieve together in the year ahead,” in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Bilateral Engagements and Diplomatic Interactions
Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held wide-ranging discussions with a US congressional delegation, including Representatives Mike Rogers, Adam Smith, and Jimmy Patronis, as well as US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. These talks covered bilateral ties, the Indo-Pacific region, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Jaishankar highlighted these interactions as vital to strengthening India-US relations.

Ambassador Gor described the meeting as “productive,” emphasizing that it would bolster cooperation on security, trade, and critical technology sectors.

Celebrating India’s Rich Legacy with a Special Theme
This year, India marks its 77th Republic Day with a unique theme: ‘150 Years of Vande Mataram’, celebrating the iconic patriotic song that symbolizes India’s aspirations and cultural heritage. The theme sets the stage for an unprecedented Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path, featuring around 10,000 guests from various walks of life.

The parade will showcase 30 tableaux—17 representing different states and Union Territories, and 13 from ministries, departments, and services—highlighting India’s vibrant diversity and national pride.

This Republic Day promises to be a memorable occasion, emphasizing India’s rich history, its cultural legacy, and the strengthening bonds with global partners like the United States.
