The hosts of Ruskin Bond’s birthday celebration welcomed kids from all across Dehradun and provided pineapple cake, patties, and Frooti cartons, bringing back memories of birthday celebrations from the 1990s.

On May 19, 2026, writer and poet Ruskin Bond turned 92. Videos from the events went viral on social media, and celebrations for the cherished writer started a week in advance. He created personalised cakes based on his books to commemorate the event.

Bond is shown sitting in bed with two vibrant cakes set in front of him in a video posted to his Instagram account. The cake designs were inspired by Ruskin Bond’s early learning books ABC and 123, according to publisher Westland Books. The blue and red chocolate-flavored pastries mirrored the book covers.

A larger party with a larger crowd and an expensive cake is depicted in another viral film that has received over 2.1 million views. His most recent book, All Time Favourite Friendship Stories, served as the inspiration for the yellow-frosted cake. Book World Dehradun, Penguinsters, and Ellora’s Melting Moments bakery organised the celebration.

The book cover served as the inspiration for the pineapple cake, which had drawings of children, animals, and the natural world in addition to Ruskin Bond’s face.

“Every day should be a birthday,” a happy Ruskin Bond remarks in one of the films. The hosts gathered kids from all across Dehradun for the birthday celebration and provided pineapple cake, patties, and Frooti cartons, adding a nostalgic touch reminiscent of 90s birthday celebrations.

Fans of Ruskin Bond still cherish his birthdays. He sent a sentimental birthday message last year while sipping buttermilk. For more information, click this link.
