Assi Box Office Collection Day 2: Taapsee Pannu’s Film Shows Growth

Taapsee Pannu's Courtroom Drama "Assi" Shows Slight Uptick at Box Office on Day 2

Taapsee Pannu’s latest film, “Assi,” continued its modest box office performance on Saturday, showing a slight increase after a slow start. The courtroom drama, directed by Anubhav Sinha, opened with an estimated Rs 1 crore net on Friday and collected approximately Rs 1.60 crore on Saturday, bringing the two-day total to around Rs 2.60 crore, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.

The film, which released in theatres on February 20, had a limited opening, with Saturday’s occupancy across Hindi 2D shows averaging 12.03%. Morning shows reported a 5.18% occupancy, which increased to 11.28% in the afternoon. Evening shows saw a further rise to 13.97%, and night shows peaked at 17.69%, indicating gradual growth in audience turnout throughout the day.

“Assi” features Taapsee Pannu in the lead role, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Revathi, Manoj Pahwa, Seema Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Naseeruddin Shah, and Kani Kusruti. The narrative centers around a lawyer steadfastly fighting for justice.

In recent interviews, director Anubhav Sinha addressed the ongoing discussion about box office collections, emphasizing his disinterest in fixating on numbers. “Box office numbers are a thing of good gossip,” he stated, clarifying his preference to focus on storytelling and performances rather than commercial metrics. Sinha expressed his discomfort with the obsession over box office figures, urging viewers and industry insiders to concentrate on the film’s themes and the actors’ craft instead.
