Jab Ram Gopal Varma Met Dhurandhar Couple Aditya Dhar And Yami Gautam

Ram Gopal Varma Meets Dhurandhar Couple Aditya Dhar and Yami Gautam

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently met renowned director Aditya Dhar and actress Yami Gautam, sharing a photo with the couple on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. In his post, Varma humorously compared Dhar to the character Humza, played by Ranveer Singh, noting that while Humza is busy combating terrorists, Dhar is revolutionizing filmmaking.

Varma wrote, “ME with the POWER COUPLE. The reel HUMZA @RanveerOfficial destroyed the Pakistani terrorists, and the real HUMZA @AdityaDharFilms is destroying the Indian filmmakers.” He further joked about the impact of Dhar’s work, questioning where filmmakers can run to escape his brilliance.

Praising ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and Its Impact on Cinema

Earlier, on March 20, Varma had lauded Dharandhar 2, the sequel to the hit film Dhurandhar, describing it as a “horror” for filmmakers who rely on loud, exaggerated, and formulaic cinema. He critiqued the trend of action films that ignore realism, emphasizing that Dhurandhar 2 introduces a more grounded and psychologically complex hero.

He stated, “Dhurandhar 2 will scare the living hell out of every filmmaker who still worships the godly hero. The film features a hero whose strength stems from his mind rather than biceps, challenging the outdated hero archetypes.”

Varma highlighted that the film’s realistic action sequences and character depth mark a shift in audience preferences, criticizing the spectacle-driven style of previous blockbusters. He argued that Dhurandhar 2 exposes the absurdity of action scenes with impossible physics and over-the-top heroics, advocating for more authentic storytelling.

A Final Verdict on Modern Filmmaking

Calling Dhurandhar 2 more than just a film, Varma described it as a “verdict” on contemporary cinema styles. He praised director Aditya Dhar’s vision for ending an era of superficial filmmaking that relied on visuals and star power rather than storytelling and psychological depth.

He concluded by asserting that the film’s box office success signals the death of outdated cinema practices, warning filmmakers still clinging to these methods to rethink their approach or face irrelevance. He even quipped that even divine intervention might not save those who refuse to adapt.
