The film, made on an enormous budget of Rs 4,000 crore (approximately $500 million), is set to be one of the biggest cinematic endeavors in Indian history. Producer Namit Malhotra revealed that the project, initiated six to seven years ago, was considered audacious due to its scale. “We’re making the largest film in the world for the greatest epic that deserves a global audience,” he stated. Malhotra also emphasized that the production is being managed efficiently, rivaling Hollywood standards.
Music for Ramayana is a collaboration between AR Rahman and Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer, marking their first joint project. Rahman explained the challenge of creating music for such an iconic story, aiming to deliver something fresh to both Indian and global audiences.
The film will be released in two parts, with the first installment scheduled for worldwide release in October 2026, ahead of Diwali. The second part is slated for release during Diwali 2027.
In addition to Ranbir Kapoor, the film features Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Yash in pivotal roles.
