In the lead-up to Republic Day on January 26, several schools across Ahmedabad and Noida received threatening emails warning of bombs, prompting immediate security measures and closures.

In Ahmedabad, the crime branch’s bomb squad and forensic department launched an investigation after multiple schools reported receiving bomb threats via email. The authorities have confirmed that the ongoing investigation is in progress, according to ANI news agency.

Meanwhile, in Noida, Shiv Nadar School was among those targeted. The school’s principal announced that the institution would remain closed on Friday, January 23, as a precaution. The school sent out an email stating, “Dear Parent, We have received an email with a Bomb threat this morning and as a precautionary measure to allow for a security sweep, the school will remain closed today, Friday, January 23, 2026.” Parents were advised to pick up their children from designated locations, and school buses were being sent back.

Other schools in Noida also took similar precautions. Cambridge School received a bomb threat email, leading to parent alerts and instructions to pick up children. Bal Bharati School was put on high alert, with pre-primary classes (Nursery, LKG, UKG) dismissed. However, no official reasons for the heightened security were shared with parents, and students from classes 1 to 12 remain inside the school premises as of now.

Noida police confirmed that, upon receiving reports of threat emails, senior officers, police personnel from various stations, bomb squads, fire brigades, dog squads, and BDDS teams were deployed for thorough security checks. Additionally, the cyber team is conducting a technical examination of the threatening emails to trace their origin.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as investigations remain underway to ensure safety ahead of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.
