The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a Rs 7,380 crore loan from NABARD to finance infrastructure development in Amaravati. Additionally, tenders worth Rs 532 crore have been cleared to connect the Seed Access Road with National Highway 16, and the 2024–25 annual statistical reports have been formally approved.
Municipal Administration Minister Ponguru Narayana briefed the media, stating that 85 construction projects are currently underway. These include government offices, residences for ministers, judges, civil servants, and employees, as well as the development of roads, electricity, water supply, and layouts.
Narayana also highlighted that 15 Anganwadi centers, schools, and primary health facilities are already completed and are scheduled for inauguration by the end of December. Housing complexes for officials are targeted for completion by March.
Infrastructure expansion is progressing swiftly. The Seed Access Road is set to connect to Mangalagiri Road by the end of January, followed by extension to NH-16. Plans are also in place to widen Karakatta Road into four lanes, with steel bridges and flyovers where necessary. The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has already commissioned 1,500 km of LPS roads to enhance connectivity across the region. Additionally, administrative sanctions have been approved for judicial and other complexes, with tenders to be floated soon.
Beyond infrastructure, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed CRDA to undertake beautification projects, including plans to erect a grand statue of N.T. Rama Rao at Neerukonda. He described the statue as a symbol of Telugu pride, inspired by national and international monuments. The monument will incorporate elements of Telugu culture and traditions, featuring icons such as Alluri Sitarama Raju and Potti Sriramulu, and will serve as a historic and inspirational landmark built with the participation of Telugu people.
The meeting was attended by Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, senior CRDA and ADC officials, and other dignitaries.
In related developments, it was announced that 16,666 acres would be pooled for projects including the International Sports City, Inner Ring Road, and railway track. Farmers in the capital region have expressed their willingness to contribute land, with the government assuring them a 10-year benefit package, similar to previous arrangements.
