A moderate earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale shook Myanmar on Tuesday, with tremors felt in parts of Kolkata. There have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.
This seismic event comes just a day after India experienced two earthquakes. The first, measuring 4.6 in magnitude, struck the Andaman and Nicobar Islands early Monday morning at approximately 3:30 am. According to the National Center of Seismology (NCS), the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, with coordinates at 9.03° North latitude and 92.78° East longitude.
In addition, another 4.6 magnitude earthquake was reported in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district early Monday. Officials told PTI that the tremor occurred at 5:35 am, with the Pattan area identified as the epicenter.
Authorities are monitoring the situation, and residents are advised to stay alert. No injuries or damage have been reported in connection with these recent seismic events.
