In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, three minor sisters reportedly jumped to their deaths from a ninth-floor flat in Ghaziabad’s Bharat City area on Wednesday. The police have revealed that the girls were not attending school regularly and were heavily influenced by online Korean content.
The father of the victims, Chetan Kumar, spoke to the media, stating he was unaware that the game his daughters were playing involved “tasks” that could lead to such an extreme outcome. “They often said they wanted to go to Korea. I did not know that this game involved such tasks. I only came to know about all this after the police forensic team examined their mobile phones,” he said.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 2:15 am when authorities received information that three girls had jumped from the balcony of a ninth-floor apartment in a tower of Bharat City under the Teela Mor police station jurisdiction in Sahibabad. Emergency services rushed the girls to a nearby hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Investigators recovered an eight-page diary from the scene, detailing their gaming activities and mobile usage. The police also found a handwritten note in the diary that read, “Sorry, Papa, I am really sorry,” accompanied by a crying-face emoji. It is believed that the girls were influenced by Korean content and were addicted to mobile phones and an online, task-based Korean game.
Police are currently investigating the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy. Statements from family members are being recorded to piece together the events that led to the girls’ drastic decision.
When asked about his awareness of the gaming activities, Kumar expressed his ignorance. “If I had known that such tasks existed, no father would ever allow his children to be part of it,” he said. He recalled that his daughter Prachi had once mentioned she was the “boss” and that her sisters followed her directives, indicating potential peer influence.
The authorities continue their investigation to uncover the full details surrounding the incident.
