The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued an update regarding the ongoing delays in the return of players, coaches, support staff, and their families following the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The governing body acknowledged the frustration among those stranded and explained that disruptions across the Gulf region have significantly impacted international air travel.

In a statement, the ICC confirmed that airspace closures, missile warnings, rerouting issues, and last-minute cancellations of commercial and charter flights have made travel arrangements more complex and time-consuming than usual. The ICC emphasized that these circumstances are entirely outside its control.

Regarding the South Africa team, the ICC announced that their members will begin departing for South Africa tonight, with all expected to have left within the next 36 hours. For the West Indies contingent, nine members are already en route to the Caribbean, while the remaining 16 are scheduled to depart India within 24 hours. The ICC assured that updates on further departures will be provided as arrangements are finalized.

The ICC reiterated that all decisions are driven solely by safety, feasibility, and the well-being of those involved. The organization dismissed any suggestions that the delays were motivated by other factors, emphasizing that each team’s travel arrangements are separate and based on different circumstances.

The ICC also stated that it remains in continuous contact with airlines, airport authorities, ground handlers, and government agencies across multiple jurisdictions to facilitate safe travel home. The organization reaffirmed that their top priority is the safety of everyone affected, including players traveling with families.

The ICC thanked all involved for their patience and cooperation during this challenging situation and promised to keep the public updated as developments occur.
