A person has been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, according to sources quoted by The Associated Press. The development comes amid ongoing efforts by law enforcement to solve the case of the 84-year-old woman, whose disappearance has captured widespread attention.

Earlier on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, authorities released images and footage showing a masked and armed individual suspected of tampering with the front door camera at Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona, home. The images, captured from a Google Nest doorbell camera, depict the person wearing a face mask, gloves, a backpack, and what appears to be a gun holster.

Evidence and Investigation Details

Law enforcement officials revealed that the footage was recorded at around 3 a.m. on February 1—just a day after Guthrie was last seen. In the footage, the individual appears to attempt to block the camera with nearby foliage and later damages it, suggesting awareness of being recorded. Authorities noted that the camera was disabled in the early hours of February 1, coinciding with Guthrie’s reported kidnapping.

Guthrie’s pacemaker lost connection from her phone in the pre-dawn hours, raising suspicion that she was abducted during that time. Her disappearance was reported after she failed to attend Sunday church services following her last visit to her home on January 31.

Family and Official Response

Relatives of Nancy Guthrie have expressed concern and hope, with Savannah Guthrie—her daughter and a prominent television host—sharing on social media that she believes her mother is still alive and urging the public to assist. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that President Donald Trump has reviewed the new images, encouraging anyone with information to contact the FBI.

Law enforcement officials have stated that, at present, there are no confirmed suspects or persons of interest. However, the investigation continues to focus on the individual seen tampering with the camera and potential motives behind the abduction.

Additional Clues and Public Appeals

At least two ransom notes have been delivered to news outlets, with the Guthrie family indicating willingness to pay a ransom for her safe return. Savannah Guthrie and her siblings have also released videos appealing to the public for tips and urging the kidnappers to communicate.

The case remains under active investigation, with authorities and Guthrie’s family hopeful for a resolution. The recent release of surveillance images marks a significant development in the search for Nancy Guthrie, who remains missing more than ten days after her abduction.
