Fans of the X-Men franchise are abuzz with excitement following the release of the latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer, which features a brief but impactful moment highlighting Cyclops. Many viewers are praising the scene, describing it as a “redeeming” moment for the beloved mutant.
In the trailer, viewers see Magneto and Professor X engaged in a game of chess and sharing a clasped hand before Cyclops collapses to his knees amid the ruins of the X-Mansion. The scene culminates with Cyclops unleashing his powers and screaming at the sky, signaling a significant character moment.
Reddit users and fans across social media are expressing their enthusiasm. One fan commented, “Blue and Yellow Cyclops and a peek at the Sentinels? Sign me up!” while another added, “Please let Cyclops be the badass he’s supposed to be!!” Many hope this signals a shift towards giving Cyclops a more prominent and heroic role in the film, moving away from previous portrayals where he was often sidelined.
Other fans praised the trailer’s visuals, with one noting, “That comic panel to life of Cyclops looks crisp. This trailer was the best so far. And the colour grading looks absolutely brilliant.” Additionally, supporters of the character expressed their desire for Cyclops to finally receive the respect he deserves, with comments like, “Cyclops was redeemed in a 3 seconds clip” and “X-Men 97 and now Doomsday giving Cyclops the respect he longly deserves.”
The trailer has also ignited excitement about the film’s overall focus on the original X-Men cast, with one fan exclaiming, “To think we got an Avengers trailer consisting entirely of the OG X-Men! Holy shit I’m pumped.” Others are eager for the film’s potential length, with one stating, “This movie better be 9 hours long.”
Prior to this release, two other Doomsday trailers have been unveiled—one confirming Chris Evans’s return as Steve Rogers, and another showcasing Thor’s comeback with his Infinity War haircut.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere on December 18. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates on the film and other upcoming Marvel projects.
