Yamaha is commemorating its 70th anniversary this year by unveiling four special edition sportbikes, featuring exclusive liveries. These anniversary models are set to be available in select international markets in 2026. Among these, the Yamaha R3, which is already available in India, has received a striking visual makeover as part of the celebration.

The 70th anniversary edition Yamaha R3 sports a vibrant red and white color scheme across its fairing, fuel tank, and tail section. Notably, the bike features eye-catching 3D red tiles on the side panels, adding depth and a unique visual appeal. Black accents are present on the front fascia and lower side fairings, while the ‘R3’ and Yamaha logos are prominently displayed atop the headlamp and fuel tank, respectively. Aside from these cosmetic upgrades, the bike’s core specifications remain unchanged.

Under the fairing, the R3 is powered by a refined 321cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine producing 40.4 horsepower and 29.4 Nm of torque. The motorcycle features a diamond-type chassis, 17-inch alloy wheels, and suspension setup with non-adjustable upside-down forks at the front and a rear monoshock. Braking is handled by single disc brakes at both ends, equipped with ABS, and the bike comes with a TFT display, along with an assist and slipper clutch for smoother riding.

In India, the existing Yamaha R3 is priced at Rs. 3.39 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the new 70th anniversary edition is unlikely to be launched locally, given the lukewarm response to the latest model initially, largely due to its high price point. The special edition will primarily target international markets in 2026.
