Devine at No. 1 on WPL 2026 Purple Cap table after match-winning four-for

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 match between Gujarat Giants (GG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) saw a shift in the Purple Cap leaderboard on Tuesday, with star allrounder Sophie Devine claiming the top spot.

Despite DC’s Nandani Sharma recording figures of 1 for 26 in the match—a three-run defeat for her side—she has been overtaken by Devine, who now leads with 15 wickets. Devine’s impressive performance included returning 4 for 37, earning her the Player-of-the-Match award. This marks her second match this season with three or more wickets, and she has not gone a single game without taking at least one wicket.

Nandani Sharma, who has 14 wickets, remains in second place but has been pushed down from the top spot. She also boasts a season-best of 5 for 33, one of only two five-wicket hauls this season, the other belonging to Shreyanka Patil of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Following Devine and Sharma are MI’s Amelia Kerr and DC’s N Shree Charani, both with 12 wickets each. RCB’s Lauren Bell and Nadine de Klerk are close behind with 11 wickets, while Patil has 10.

Orange Cap Leaders

In the batting department, last season’s Orange Cap winner Nat Sciver-Brunt has surged to the top of the run-scorers’ chart after scoring the season’s first century—an unbeaten 100 off 57 balls against RCB. She now leads with 319 runs, the only player to cross the 300-run mark this season. She is followed by her teammate Harmanpreet Kaur with 260 runs.

Phoebe Litchfield of UP Warriorz (UPW) is third with 243 runs, while RCB’s Smriti Mandhana and DC’s Lizelle Lee are close behind with 236 and 230 runs respectively.
