Apple is still well over a year away from unveiling the iPhone 18 Pro series, but early leaks have already started outlining what the company could be planning for its 2026 flagship phones. If current reports are accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may introduce some of the biggest changes seen on Apple’s Pro models in a long time. From a redesigned front layout and upgraded cameras to a completely new approach to chip and memory integration, the upcoming phones could feel noticeably different from recent generations. For buyers debating whether to upgrade sooner or wait, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is already giving plenty of reasons to pause. Let’s take a look at the leaked battery, price, display, camera, chipset and other details of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro as well as iPhone 18 Pro Max models.

iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max launch in 2026: Leaked battery, price, display, camera, other details

Design changes?

The front design could be where users notice the biggest difference.Reports suggest Apple is working on placing Face ID components beneath the display on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. If this plan goes through, the familiar Dynamic Island may no longer be part of the design. Instead, the front camera could move to a small hole positioned near the top-left corner of the screen, offering a cleaner viewing experience. While the overall body and frame are expected to remain similar to the iPhone 17 Pro series, this internal rearrangement could make the display feel less cluttered during everyday use.

The rear side is expected to remain familiar. Apple is likely to continue with its triple rear camera setup on a raised module. However, small refinements are expected, including possible changes to the back glass finish and how it pairs with the aluminium frame. There is also talk of new colour options being tested, with darker tones such as deep purple, burgundy, or a coffee-inspired brown being considered for the Pro models.

Big camera upgrades?

Cameras are once again a major area of attention. Leaks suggest Apple could introduce a mechanical iris on at least one rear camera, allowing variable aperture control. This would be a first for iPhones and could improve exposure control and depth handling in challenging lighting conditions. Such a feature may also reduce the need for heavy software processing in certain shooting scenarios.

Another reported upgrade involves a new three-layer stacked image sensor sourced from Samsung, which could appear on at least one of the Pro models. This sensor is expected to offer faster readout speeds, lower noise levels, and improved dynamic range. Both the main and telephoto cameras are also tipped to feature larger apertures, which should help deliver better results in low-light photography and videography.

New chipset?

Inside the phone, Apple is expected to introduce the A20 Pro chipset. Built using TSMC’s upcoming 2nm process, the chip is said to bring a new packaging method where the RAM is placed directly on the same wafer as the CPU, GPU, and Neural Engine. This design could lead to better performance, improved efficiency, and enhanced thermal control.

Such integration may also free up internal space, which Apple could use for a larger battery or improved cooling. Early performance estimates suggest the A20 Pro could offer around 15 percent faster performance and up to 30 percent better power efficiency compared to the previous generation, which would also benefit on-device AI features under Apple Intelligence.

Battery, connectivity details?

Battery life could see an upgrade, particularly on the Pro Max model. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is said to be slightly thicker than its predecessor, possibly to accommodate a larger battery. Reports claim the capacity could go up to around 5,100mAh. This change could also push the phone’s weight beyond 240 grams, making it heavier than previous iPhones. While this may not appeal to everyone, Apple could offset the added weight with longer battery endurance.

Connectivity upgrades are also expected. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is tipped to feature Apple’s next-generation C2 modem, which could bring mmWave 5G support back to Apple’s in-house modem lineup. This would help close the performance gap with Qualcomm-powered iPhones in regions where mmWave networks are available.

Display

On the display front, Apple is expected to stick with familiar screen sizes. The iPhone 18 Pro may come with a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max could retain a 6.9-inch panel. There is still disagreement among sources on whether Apple will completely remove the Dynamic Island or simply make it smaller. Some reports point to a pinhole-only design, while others suggest a reduced Dynamic Island paired with improved Face ID hardware.

iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max: When could they launch in 2026

As for the launch timeline, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September 2026, following its usual release schedule. The standard iPhone 18 model, however, may arrive later, possibly in 2027, though Apple has not shared any official details yet.

iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max launch this year: Price in India (expected)

At this stage, Apple has not shared any official details about pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, and early leaks have also stopped short of confirming a clear price revision. However, the pricing trend seen with recent iPhone launches offers some context. With the iPhone 17 series, Apple already introduced noticeable increases in India, especially for the Pro models, which has narrowed the room for another steep hike in 2026.

The iPhone 17 Pro currently starts at Rs 1,34,900 for the base 256GB variant in India, up from Rs 1,19,900 for the iPhone 16 Pro. The Pro Max model also saw an upward revision, now starting at Rs 1,49,900, compared to Rs 1,44,900 last year. Even the standard iPhone 17 witnessed a price bump, with its base variant now priced at Rs 82,900.

Given these adjustments, Apple may choose to maintain similar pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to avoid further pressure on buyers, especially in price-sensitive markets like India. Keeping prices steady would also help Apple stay competitive against rival flagship phones from Samsung and other Android brands, many of which already sit at comparable price points.

That said, pricing decisions could still be influenced by factors such as component costs, memory pricing, and supply-chain constraints. Reports of ongoing pressure on RAM availability are also being closely tracked, as higher memory costs could eventually affect retail pricing. For now, any final decision remains open, and Apple is unlikely to reveal its pricing strategy until much closer to the launch.
