Hyundai has officially introduced the Staria Electric MPV as part of its broader electrification plans. Building on the popularity of the internal combustion engine (ICE) version in Europe, the electric variant offers numerous benefits, including zero tailpipe emissions, smoother ride quality, more spacious interiors, and modern features. The new EV version aims to serve both family and commercial transportation needs.

Powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing up to 218 PS and 350 Nm of torque, the Staria Electric delivers refined, quiet performance with consistent power across various driving conditions. Power is supplied to the front wheels, ensuring a smooth driving experience.

A key technical highlight is its advanced 800V electrical architecture, enabling rapid charging with reduced thermal stress. Under ideal DC fast-charging conditions, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes. For everyday charging, an 11 kW AC charger supports convenient home or workplace charging. The vehicle boasts an estimated WLTP range of up to 400 km on a single charge.

The electric layout allows for a flat floor and extended wheelbase, resulting in a spacious, lounge-like interior with ample headroom and legroom. Large windows, a low belt-line, and a tall roofline enhance natural light and interior comfort. Hyundai will offer two seating configurations: a seven-seat Luxury model aimed at private owners and lifestyle buyers, and a nine-seat Wagon version suited for larger families, group travel, and shuttle services.

Both variants feature adaptable cargo space, wide sliding doors, and a large tailgate for ease of access. The exterior maintains the distinctive flowing silhouette of the ICE model, with electric-specific styling cues such as a closed-off front grille, a full-width LED light strip, vertically-stacked headlamps, and a clean bumper design, all contributing to improved aerodynamics.

Inside, the Staria Electric features a modern, horizontal dashboard with dual 12.3-inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The vehicle supports over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and cloud-based connected services. Additional features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality and Hyundai’s comprehensive SmartSense ADAS suite, enhancing safety and convenience.

Production of the Staria Electric will commence at Hyundai’s Ulsan plant in South Korea, with sales expected initially in Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026.

Design and Market Position

Visually, the Staria Electric closely resembles its ICE counterpart, sharing the same platform with minor modifications for the electric drivetrain. Notable design elements include a full-width LED lighting strip, a closed grille, a front charging port, vertically stacked headlamps, and a sleek bumper.

Unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show, Hyundai’s global debut of the Staria Electric underscores its goal to make large-format electric MPVs both practical and accessible—particularly in markets where MPVs remain a preferred choice for everyday transportation. The vehicle is equipped with an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, emphasizing its focus on versatility and efficiency.
