Hyderabad, January 16 — The Hyderabad Drone Show held at Gachibowli Stadium on Friday failed to meet audience expectations, with many viewers expressing their disappointment and calling the event a “waste of time and money.”

Many attendees took to Instagram to share their reactions, highlighting the stark difference between their anticipation of a spectacular display similar to renowned Chinese drone shows and what was actually presented. Instead of impressive formations, spectators described the display as “LED mosquitos.”

One user captioned the event as “expectations: Star Wars, reality: traffic wars,” reflecting their letdown. Comments on social media also included sentiments of regret and humor, such as “If it were April, we’d think it was April Fool’s, but it’s January,” and remarks comparing the show’s quality unfavorably to school performances.

While the event was free for some, most audience members had paid Rs 199 for their tickets, with prices varying based on seating arrangements. Several viewers noted the limited availability of free seats, which added to their frustration.

The event was billed to feature drone soccer, remote-controlled planes, and race qualifiers on Friday. The following day’s lineup was set to include first-person view drone racing, a marathon, and an evening drone show, but the disappointing execution on Friday overshadowed expectations for the weekend’s events.
