Expand Energy Corporation (EXE), an Oklahoma-based energy firm specializing in natural gas exploration, development, and production, is gearing up to release its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings. Currently valued at approximately $23.8 billion by market capitalization, the company boasts a robust portfolio of shale assets, with significant operations in major U.S. gas basins such as Haynesville and Marcellus, positioning it as a key player in North American natural gas markets.

Earnings Expectations and Performance

Ahead of the upcoming earnings report, analysts project that EXE will announce a profit of $1.70 per share on a diluted basis, representing a remarkable increase of 209.1% compared to $0.55 per share in the same quarter last year. Historically, the company has exceeded analyst expectations in three of the last four quarters, with one miss.

For the full fiscal year 2025, experts anticipate that EXE will report an EPS of $5.80, marking a substantial 311.4% rise from $1.41 in fiscal 2024. Looking further ahead, estimates suggest EPS could grow by 32.8% year-over-year to $7.70 in fiscal 2026.

Stock Performance and Market Sentiment

Despite its strong outlook, EXE shares have declined slightly by 1.5% over the past year, underperforming the S&P 500’s 13.3% gain and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund’s modest 1.3% increase during the same period.

However, recent market movements have been favorable for the company. On January 20, EXE’s shares surged over 4%, outperforming peers amid a rally in U.S. natural gas prices, which jumped more than 26% to a three-week high—boosting confidence in natural gas producers broadly.

Analyst Outlook and Price Targets

Market analysts remain bullish on EXE stock, with an overall “Strong Buy” consensus. Out of 29 analysts covering the company, 24 recommend a “Strong Buy,” two suggest a “Moderate Buy,” and three indicate a “Hold.” The average price target among analysts stands at $132.44, implying a potential upside of approximately 26.4% from current levels.
