Tata Motors is known for making electric cars accessible to everyone with models like the Nexon EV and Tiago EV. However, the Indian giant is now setting its sights much higher. The company is preparing to launch a brand-new premium electric vehicle sub-brand called Avinya. While earlier reports suggested a delay until 2027, fresh updates indicate that Tata Motors plans to launch the Avinya brand by the end of 2026. This new range will sit far above the current lineup, offering luxury levels that compete with global brands.

Radical Design and “Born Electric” Platform The Avinya range will be very different from the Tata cars we see today. Unlike the Nexon or Punch, which are modified petrol cars, the Avinya will be built on a dedicated Gen 3 skateboard architecture. This “born electric” platform allows for a completely flat floor, giving passengers massive cabin space and comfort. The styling is expected to be radical. The concept version, known as the Avinya X, stunned everyone with its Maybach-like dual-tone paint, T-shaped light signatures, and a sleek coupe-crossover shape. It is designed to be a head-turner, combining the stance of an SUV with the elegance of a luxury sedan.

Luxury Interiors and Futuristic Tech Inside, the Avinya X will offer a minimalist yet ultra-premium experience. The cabin design draws inspiration from luxury giants like Range Rover, focusing on space and relaxation. Tata has hinted that the car will avoid screen clutter, providing only necessary information to keep the environment peaceful. However, it won’t be short on features. You can expect Level 2+ ADAS safety tech, ventilated and massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera. The goal is to offer a “private suite” experience on wheels.

500 km Range and Superfast Charging Performance is another area where the Avinya aims to impress. While exact battery details are still under wraps, the new platform is designed to deliver a range of over 500 km. More importantly, it promises ultra-fast charging capabilities, with claims that it can gain 500 km of range in just less than 30 minutes of charging. This would address one of the biggest concerns for EV buyers—long charging times. The car will use the EMA architecture, which was originally developed in partnership with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), ensuring world-class driving dynamics.

Price and Market Position This premium experience will come at a premium price. The Avinya X is expected to be the most expensive Tata car ever sold, with estimated prices ranging between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 40 lakh. To maintain exclusivity, Tata Motors will even set up a dedicated retail channel for the Avinya brand, separate from its regular showrooms. With huge investments of over Rs 16,000 crore planned for this EV expansion, Tata is clearly ready to take on the world of luxury electric vehicles.
