In a recent development, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a prominent separatist group, has released a video depicting a female fighter involved in a significant attack across Pakistan’s Balochistan province over the weekend. The footage, believed to have been recorded late at night or in the early hours, shows the final hours of Hawa Baloch, a young woman fighting against Pakistani security forces during one of the deadliest assaults in recent years.
The video captures Hawa Baloch, identified as a ‘fidayeen’ (suicide attacker), engaging Pakistani forces during Phase Two of the BLA’s Operation Herof at the Gwadar Front. The group issued a statement alongside the footage, praising her bravery and framing her as a martyr who fought selflessly alongside her comrades.
“During Operation Herof, Phase Two at the Gwadar Front, Fidayee Hawa Baloch fought selflessly, shoulder to shoulder with fellow Fidayeen. This was her final message, sent twelve hours before her death,” the BLA said.
In the footage, Baloch is seen speaking directly to the camera, her voice determined. She urges the Baloch nation to rise against their oppressors, saying, “Baloch nation, today one of your sisters is facing the Punjabi army. Now you people should come with courage. There is no other way left for us.” Dressed in a red and blue kurta and a baseball cap bearing the BLA logo, she appears resolute and fearless.
When asked about the ongoing conflict, she responds with a smile, “War is fun,” while addressing her fellow attacker, known by the call sign “Droshum.” Baloch further claims that her team has killed all Pakistani security personnel near the Gwadar Front, adding, “Today, there is mourning in the enemy ranks; there are sounds of crying and mourning everywhere… They only show their power over our oppressed mothers and sisters. They can’t confront us directly. It’s beyond their capabilities.”
In her message to the Baloch people, she calls for awakening and unity, emphasizing that “the enemy’s days are numbered” and asserting that no compromise is possible. She criticizes spies within their ranks, accusing some of betraying their cause for petty gains. The video ends with graphic images of Hawa Baloch’s bloodied body lying in the dirt, along with another fallen fighter.
Reports indicate that Hawa Baloch is a member of Generation Z, the daughter of a BLA fighter killed by Pakistani forces in 2021. She reportedly received formal education before joining the insurgency, highlighting a trend of young, educated individuals participating in Baloch separatist efforts that have persisted for decades.
Casualties and Military Response
Pakistan’s military announced that they killed 92 separatists on Saturday and 41 on Friday in ongoing counter-operations against the BLA. The group acknowledged its own losses, stating that 18 of its fighters, including 11 ‘fidayeen’ suicide bombers from the Majeed Brigade, four fighters from the Fateh Squad, and three from the STOS unit, were killed during the recent clashes.

Balochistan, the largest yet least populated province of Pakistan, has long been a hotbed of insurgency. Separatist groups demand greater autonomy or outright independence, citing political marginalization and disputes over control of natural resources. The BLA remains one of the most active groups, classified as a terrorist organization by Pakistan and several other nations.
