Two passenger aircraft collided with each other’s wingtips while taxiing at Mumbai Airport today, prompting investigations and safety checks. The incident involved an Air India flight and an IndiGo flight, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The aircraft involved were Air India flight AI 2732 en route to Coimbatore, and IndiGo flight 6E 791, which had arrived from Hyderabad. Both flights, operated on narrow-body Airbus A320 aircraft, experienced damage to their wingtips, resulting in dents on the metal surfaces.

The DGCA confirmed that after the collision, both aircraft returned to their respective bays for inspections. An IndiGo spokesperson stated that all passengers disembarked safely after the incident, and the aircraft is now undergoing maintenance. The airline is also making arrangements to rebook affected passengers.

Similarly, an Air India spokesperson reported that its aircraft sustained wingtip damage and has been grounded for further technical checks. The airline assured that all passengers were safely disembarked and that efforts are underway to re-accommodate them promptly.

Both airlines have confirmed the incident and are cooperating with authorities as investigations continue. Safety officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the collision to prevent future incidents.
