Narendra Modi, Benjamin Netanyahu Share Car Ride After Knesset Address, Highlight Strong India–Israel Ties

JERUSALEM, Feb 26, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared a car ride on Wednesday after delivering speeches at the Knesset, symbolising the growing partnership between India and Israel.

The two leaders were traveling together to attend a technology exhibition showcasing innovation and technological advancements, following their official engagements at Israel’s parliament. Netanyahu described the moment as a reflection of the strong bilateral relationship, stating, “We are moving forward together—and strengthening the India-Israel partnership in technology and innovation.”

Modi Addresses Israeli Parliament, Highlights Historic Ties

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Knesset and interacted with its members, emphasising the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and the goodwill shared by their people.

“It’s been an honour to address the Knesset. It was also a delight to interact with distinguished members. My address covered the deep-rooted friendship between our nations and the goodwill of the people of India towards the people of Israel,” Modi said in a post on X.

During his speech, Modi highlighted the historical links between India and Israel, noting that relations between the two civilisations date back more than 2,000 years. He cited references to India in ancient Jewish texts and historical trade connections between the regions.

Modi Receives Israel’s Highest Parliamentary Honour

The Knesset conferred its highest honour, the “Speaker of the Knesset Medal,” on Prime Minister Modi in recognition of his exceptional leadership in strengthening strategic ties between India and Israel.

The award acknowledged his role in expanding cooperation between the two countries across key sectors, including defence, technology, trade, and innovation.

Netanyahu Praises Modi’s Support After Hamas Attack

Prime Minister Netanyahu praised Modi’s strong support for Israel following the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. He thanked the Indian leader for his solidarity and clear condemnation of the attack.

“There is another reason for the love for you here in Israel. Right after the horrific attack on October 7, you supported Israel morally. You stood by Israel and stood by the Jewish people,” Netanyahu said.

Visit Marks Continued Strengthening of Strategic Partnership

Modi’s visit to Israel, undertaken at Netanyahu’s invitation, marks his second trip to the country. His first visit in 2017 was historic, as he became the first Indian prime minister to visit Israel.

The latest visit underscores the strengthening India–Israel partnership, with both nations continuing to expand cooperation in technology, innovation, culture, and strategic affairs.
