Pawan Kalyan’s Film Title Change and Role Shift Explained by Director Harish Shankar

In a recent interview, acclaimed director Harish Shankar shed light on the significant changes made to the upcoming film starring Pawan Kalyan, which was initially titled Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh. The film, their second collaboration after Gabbar Singh, originally featured Pawan Kalyan as a college professor, with the story set against an academic backdrop.
However, the script underwent a major transformation during the scripting process. Harish Shankar revealed that the initial concept was altered to better suit audience expectations and the star’s mass appeal. “In Gabbar Singh, Pawan garu appeared predominantly in a cop uniform, which resonated well with fans. This time, I wanted to introduce something fresh, starting with a college setting,” he explained. “But fans expected another mass entertainer similar to Gabbar Singh.”
The director also highlighted the influence of social media and fan feedback in shaping the film’s direction. Harish mentioned that the title Bhavadeeyudu sparked curiosity among the younger generation, especially Gen Z audiences. “Fans wanted a title that conveyed strength and mass appeal. Pawan garu liked the original title, but to generate more excitement, we realized we needed a stronger characterization,” he said.
As a result, the film’s storyline was reworked into a more intense, action-packed narrative centered around a powerful cop, with Pawan Kalyan taking on the role of Ustaad Bhagat Singh. The change aimed to deliver a character with more mass elements, aligning with audience preferences and creating anticipation for the star’s new avatar.
The film’s new title and role shift mark a strategic move to balance creative vision with audience expectations, promising fans a compelling mix of action, mass appeal, and social relevance.
