Delhi — The Delhi Legislative Assembly and its Speaker, Vijender Gupta, received a bomb threat via email early this morning, prompting heightened security measures in the national capital.

According to sources, the threat email was sent at approximately 7:28 am to the Assembly’s official email address, warning of a potential bomb attack. A second email was received later at 7:49 am on Speaker Gupta’s official email ID. The messages raised concerns about possible explosions not only within the Assembly complex but also at the nearby Vidhan Sabha Metro Station.

The threatening correspondence reportedly contained provocative language and named several high-profile leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa were also specifically mentioned. The emails referenced support for a Khalistan referendum and included warnings for leaders to “protect themselves.”

A group identifying as the “Khalistani National Army” has reportedly claimed responsibility for the threats, also issuing warnings against the Delhi Chief Minister, the Cabinet, and the Lieutenant Governor.

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the origin of the emails. Bomb disposal squads and police personnel have been deployed around the Assembly premises and nearby areas, with security at key installations across Delhi being further tightened.

Authorities are currently assessing the credibility of the threat as investigations continue.
