The highly anticipated first look of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama from Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana was unveiled on Thursday, April 2, 2026, coinciding with Hanuman Jayanti. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the film also stars Yash and Sai Pallavi in pivotal roles.

The teaser offers a sweeping preview of the mythological epic, emphasizing Lord Rama’s grandeur. It opens with panoramic battlefield visuals, followed by an image of Rama standing against the rising sun. Ranbir’s portrayal is revealed as he walks amidst devotees, adorned in gold ornaments and a subtle, serene smile. The visuals are grand and epic, promising a cinematic spectacle. The teaser concludes with a shot of Ravana, played by Yash, approaching his massive Pushpak Vimana.

The makers shared a heartfelt caption alongside the glimpse, stating, “Rama is the greatest of all time because he lived a life where the choices he made were always in the benefit of the greater good, duty over desire, and sacrifice over self. His legacy continues to inspire and empower humanity, demonstrating the power of goodness, peace, and resolve in conflict.”

Behind the Scenes and Creativity

Ranbir Kapoor expressed his thoughts on playing Rama, saying, “I don’t think I’m here to represent Rama. I’m here to learn from him. There is a simplicity and purity to him that is very rare; and trying to understand and imbibe that has been a deeply humbling experience.”

Director Nitesh Tiwari added, “The greatness of Ramayana lies in its emotional depth. It’s not just about good versus evil but about choices, consequences, and doing what is right. Rama’s journey is profoundly human, and that’s the essence we aim to stay true to.”

Star-Studded and Music Marvel

The film boasts a stellar soundtrack by AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer, with lyrics by Kumar Vishwas. Written by Sridhar Raghavan, Ramayana features an ensemble cast including Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, and Yash.

Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, along with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the film’s first installment is scheduled for release in theaters during Diwali 2026, with the second part set for 2027. Fans eagerly await this epic retelling of the legendary tale, promising a visual and emotional spectacle on a grand scale.
