The much-anticipated teaser of the upcoming Pan-India action film Dacoit was unveiled with great fanfare in December, featuring its lead stars Adivi Sesh, Mrunal Thakur, and director Anurag Kashyap. Originally slated for release on March 19, 2026, the film’s release date has now been officially pushed back.
Sources close to the production revealed exclusively to Bollywood Hungama that the makers have decided to reschedule Dacoit’s release to April 10, 2026. The shift comes amid a crowded release schedule in March, which includes highly anticipated films like Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups. The producers felt a strategic move was necessary to ensure the film receives the attention it deserves.
A source explained, “The decision was made after careful consideration of the busy release calendar. The team respects the creative efforts behind Dhurandhar and Toxic, and believes every film should have its own moment to shine without competing for audience focus.”
Trade insiders interpret the postponement as a sign of the filmmakers’ confidence in Dacoit. Described by the team as a ‘goldfish’ among larger releases, the film’s new release date aims to give it adequate space to make a strong impact. The source added, “The move to April 10 reflects strategic planning and a commitment to ensuring Dacoit gets its rightful spotlight, allowing audiences to enjoy each film on its own terms.”
Dacoit is directed by Abhinay Deo, produced by Supriya Yarlagadda, and backed by S S Creations and Suniel Narang Productions. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is the sequel to the blockbuster Dhurandhar (2025), starring Ranveer Singh. Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups, directed by Geetu Mohandas, features a star-studded cast including Yash, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, and Akshay Oberoi.
