In a surprising development, renowned singer Arijit Singh has announced his retirement from playback singing, leaving his fans in disbelief. The singer shared the news via his social media accounts, revealing that he will not be taking on any new singing assignments moving forward. He expressed gratitude to his supporters for their love over the years, describing his journey as “wonderful.”

Fan Reactions and Industry Impact

The announcement has sent ripples across the music industry and among his fans worldwide. Arijit’s soulful voice has been a staple in Bollywood for over a decade, with his chart-topping hits like Tum Hi Ho, Channa Mereya, and Gherua earning him critical acclaim and numerous awards, including two National Awards for Binte Dil and Kesariya.

Chinmayi Sripaada Reflects on Her Experience

Chinmayi Sripaada, a respected playback singer who has collaborated with Arijit on songs such as Mast Magan and Sooiyan Si, shared her thoughts on his decision. Taking to her X (formerly Twitter) account, she recounted her experiences working with him. She reminisced, “I remember meeting Arijit when he recorded me for Pritam sir — and I remember telling him how he wasn’t ruling Bollywood yet — Tum Hi Ho hadn’t released then. I worked with him several times after he became the most sought-after singer, and nothing had changed.”

Chinmayi praised Arijit’s talent and spirituality, adding, “He is one of my favourite musicians, singers, and, overall, one of the finest, spiritually evolved human beings I have come across. I always felt he operates from a higher calling; whatever he plans for himself as a musician would be nothing short of divine.”

A Musical Journey Comes to an End

Throughout his illustrious career, Arijit has delivered countless hit songs, including Channa Mereya, Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga, Kabira, and Jaan Nisaar. His soulful voice has become synonymous with Bollywood romance and emotional depth.

As he steps back from the playback scene, his fans and industry peers will undoubtedly miss his enchanting voice and artistic presence. For now, Arijit Singh has chosen to conclude this chapter of his musical journey, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate for years to come.
