Despite experiencing a slowdown in its second and third weeks, the war film Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, has achieved a significant milestone, crossing the Rs 300 crore mark at the Indian box office.
On Saturday, Day 16, Border 2 earned an estimated Rs 5.25 crore net, following an impressive weekend jump. The film’s third-week earnings saw a dip, with Friday’s collections around Rs 2.85 crore, but Saturday’s collections nearly doubled, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.
Week-wise India Net Collections:
- Week 1: Rs 224.25 crore
- Week 2: Rs 70.15 crore
- Week 3 (Day 16): Rs 5.25 crore
With these figures, the film’s total domestic net collection stands at approximately Rs 301.5 crore, with reports indicating its all-India gross has surpassed Rs 360 crore.
Global Performance
While the bulk of its earnings have come from India, Border 2 has also performed well internationally, earning an estimated Rs 52 crore overseas. This brings its worldwide box office collection to approximately Rs 412 crore.
Ranking Among Highest-Grossing Hindi Films
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 has steadily climbed the list of highest-grossing Hindi films. Having crossed the Rs 300 crore mark, it has surpassed major blockbusters such as Dhoom 3 (Rs 290 crore) and Sultan (Rs 300 crore). The film now aims to overtake Padmaavat (Rs 303 crore), followed by War (Rs 318 crore) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320 crore).
Trade sources suggest that Border 2 could add another Rs 15–20 crore to its domestic total, potentially reaching around Rs 325 crore before its run slows down.
Upcoming Competition
The film enjoyed a strong opening during the Republic Day weekend but is expected to face stiff competition next week with the release of Shahid Kapoor’s O’ Romeo, along with Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, releasing on February 13 ahead of Valentine’s Day.
Third Weekend Collections
Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate that Border 2 began its third Sunday on a positive note, earning over Rs 20 lakh from early morning shows. The total collection for the day is currently estimated at Rs 7.1 crore, with the film having scored Rs 121 crore in its opening weekend and Rs 51 crore in its second weekend.
By early afternoon, collections stood at Rs 93 lakh. As the day progresses, the film is on track to cross Rs 10 crore in its third weekend.
Sunday Afternoon and Evening Updates
In the afternoon, Border 2 earned approximately Rs 90 lakh from early shows, bringing its total Day 17 collection to Rs 1.83 crore. By evening, the film had amassed Rs 6.90 crore for the day, pushing its overall collection to Rs 309.4 crore.
Border 2, featuring Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh, continues its successful run despite the slowdown, reaffirming its status as one of the top-grossing Hindi films of the year.
