Hyderabad – Anil Ravipudi’s highly anticipated comedy-drama Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu has taken Telugu cinema by storm, with makers claiming it has crossed Rs 350 crore worldwide in just 15 days of release. The film, starring Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara, hit theaters on January 12, coinciding with Sankranti festivities, and received a positive audience response.
According to recent updates shared on social media by Chiranjeevi’s daughter Sushmita Konidela’s production company, Gold Box Entertainments, the film has achieved a historic milestone. The post read, “When the boss arrives, records surrender,” highlighting that MSVPG has grossed over Rs 358 crore globally within two weeks, making it an all-time regional blockbuster.
Record-Breaking Achievement:
The makers further stated that Chiranjeevi continues to set new records, with the film surpassing the lifetime gross of Pawan Kalyan’s recent hit They Call Him OG, which grossed approximately Rs 295.22 crore worldwide. This feat, achieved in just 15 days, underscores Chiranjeevi’s enduring star power and the film’s massive success.
Trade Reports and Reality Check:
However, there is a disparity between the makers’ claims and trade reports. According to box office website Sacnilk, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu earned around Rs 269.50 crore worldwide in 14 days. The site reports collections of Rs 4.72 crore nett in India on Day 15 and Rs 1.16 crore nett on Day 16, with India’s total nett collection reaching Rs 198.41 crore.
The report also notes a steady decline in audience occupancy, which was recorded at 17.89% overall on January 27, with viewership in various time slots ranging from approximately 14% to 24%. Despite the slowdown, the film continues to perform well at the box office.
While the official figures from the makers suggest an extraordinary blockbuster, trade sources indicate a slightly lower collection, though still impressive. Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu remains a significant success, and industry experts are watching closely to see if it will solidify its place as one of the biggest hits in Telugu cinema history.
