New Delhi:
Tragedy struck in Delhi’s Karol Bagh area late Tuesday night when a double-decker sleeper bus, arriving from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, lost control and overturned near the Jhandewalan temple, resulting in two fatalities and injuring 23 others.

The incident occurred around 1 am, with approximately 25 passengers on board at the time. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus suddenly veered off the road, causing it to overturn. Emergency services rushed to the scene immediately, with fire tenders and rescue teams working swiftly to extricate trapped victims.

Rescue operations revealed that two children and a woman were initially trapped beneath the wreckage. They were rescued by emergency responders and rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care. The injured passengers are reportedly in stable condition, though some sustained serious injuries requiring longer hospitalization.

Visuals from the site depicted a heavily damaged bus with shattered windows, displaced seats, broken glass, and detached wheels scattered around the crash site. The accident caused traffic disruptions in the area, with police cordoning off the site for investigation.

The timing of the accident is particularly tragic as it coincides with Navratri festivities, which draw large crowds to the Jhandewalan temple. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, examining whether driver fatigue, speeding, or mechanical failure contributed to the mishap. Local officials and police have assured that measures will be intensified to prevent such incidents, especially during the busy festival season.

This tragedy highlights ongoing concerns over road safety in Delhi and surrounding regions, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of traffic laws and vehicle maintenance standards to prevent future accidents.
