Donald Trump Declares “Golden Age of America” in State of the Union Address
Donald Trump delivered a confident assessment of his administration’s first year back in power during his State of the Union address, declaring that the United States has undergone a major transformation and is now “the hottest country anywhere in the world.”
Addressing members of US Congress, Trump said the nation had rebounded strongly from economic and political challenges, calling the current period “the golden age of America.”
“Our nation is back—bigger, better, richer, and stronger than ever before,” Trump said, adding, “One year ago we were a dead country; now we are the hottest country anywhere in the world.”
Focus on Economy, Investment, and Jobs
The president highlighted improvements in economic indicators, including inflation, gas prices, and employment, and reaffirmed confidence in the nation’s direction.
“The state of our union is strong,” Trump told lawmakers.
Trump also claimed his administration had secured more than $18 trillion in global investment commitments within 12 months, compared to less than $1 trillion during the previous administration’s four-year term.
He said the government’s priority is to create opportunities for American citizens, strengthen domestic industries, and ensure that economic growth benefits working families.
Criticism of Democrats and Policy Opposition
Trump criticised Democrats for opposing his economic agenda, particularly tax reforms. He said Republican lawmakers had delivered major tax cuts aimed at boosting growth and investment.
He also accused Democrats of contributing to rising healthcare costs and said his administration aims to redirect funds to provide more affordable healthcare options directly to citizens.
Political Context and Outlook
The speech marked Trump’s first official State of the Union address of his second term. He struck a defiant tone despite political divisions and ongoing criticism from opposition leaders.
Trump said his administration had achieved “a turnaround for the ages” and pledged to continue policies focused on economic expansion, job creation, and strengthening America’s global position.
The address underscored the administration’s efforts to highlight economic gains while facing political challenges and upcoming legislative battles.
