In a bid to address the rising costs of daily mobility, Jio has introduced a new electric cycle aimed at making city travel predictable, affordable, and practical for everyday users. Designed with budgets in mind, the cycle offers a range of features tailored for urban commuters, students, delivery riders, and working families.

Extended Range and Affordable Pricing

The Jio Electric Cycle boasts a usable range of up to 120 kilometers on a single charge, allowing riders to go several days without recharging. With a top speed of 60 km/h, it strikes a balance between city-friendly agility and safety. The cycle’s pricing is set at ₹25,000, with an initial ₹5,000 down payment, making ownership accessible. Financing options over 24 or 36 months with attractive EMI plans further lower entry barriers, bringing monthly costs to as low as ₹665.

Designed for Indian Roads

Built with durability and practicality in mind, the cycle features a robust, commuter-first frame optimized for Indian road conditions. Wider tires enhance grip on uneven surfaces and during braking, while LED lighting improves visibility during early mornings and evenings. Its lightweight structure ensures easy handling amidst traffic and parking constraints, with protected panels and cable routing for long-term durability.

Comfort and Ease of Use

The cycle prioritizes rider comfort with an upright riding posture, relaxed handlebar reach, and a cushioned saddle suitable for longer city rides. Simple controls, including a compact digital display showing speed, battery percentage, and remaining range, make it accessible for all users. Quiet electric assistance reduces vibration and heat, ensuring a calmer ride in stop-and-go traffic, while mounting points support small loads or bags necessary for daily errands.

Battery Life and Charging Convenience

With a 120 km range, riders can comfortably commute 15–20 km daily, potentially going 6–8 days between charges. Battery placement is designed for protection against splashes and bumps, supporting long-term use. Charging can be done conveniently at home via standard sockets, with time varying based on battery size and charger output. The cycle’s performance is tuned for steady, smooth cruising, maintaining control with a top speed suitable for city streets.

Safety and Technology

Safety features include enhanced tyre grip, balanced braking, and bright LED headlamps for low-light conditions. Basic anti-theft measures like battery locking are incorporated to safeguard ownership. The design emphasizes reliability, with serviceability and spare parts availability critical to minimizing downtime for daily users.

Availability and Cost of Ownership

Priced at ₹25,000, the Jio Electric Cycle’s flexible financing options make it even more accessible. With electricity costs around ₹8 per unit and low running costs (₹0.05–₹0.10 per km), monthly expenses for 1,000 km of travel remain minimal—between ₹50 and ₹100—making it an economical choice for everyday mobility.

Conclusion

Jio’s new electric cycle is positioned as a practical, cost-effective solution for urban commuting, focusing on affordability, durability, and safety. By simplifying design and offering flexible financing, Jio aims to make eco-friendly mobility accessible to a broad segment of Indian consumers.
