Mahindra has officially unveiled the updated XUV 7XO, a successor to the popular XUV700, which first captivated Indian buyers in 2021. As we step into 2026, the automaker aims to strengthen its SUV lineup with this new model. Here’s a comprehensive look at what makes the Mahindra XUV 7XO a compelling choice—along with some limitations to consider.

Exterior Design Highlights

The XUV 7XO sports a radical redesign in line with Mahindra’s ‘XO’ family design language. While the overall silhouette remains unchanged, the front features a new grille, C-shaped DRLs, bi-LED headlights, and a redesigned bumper with a faux skid plate. The rear gets updated taillights with honeycomb detailing and a new bumper, complemented by 19-inch alloy wheels. The exterior exudes a modern, attention-grabbing appeal.

Interior Experience

Pros:
The cabin quality has seen a significant upgrade, offering premium materials and a new Lumina and Chestnut Brown theme. Large touchscreens and touch-based controls for climate and other settings enhance the plush feel.

Cons:
Second-row space is adequate but lacks slide-adjustment, limiting flexibility. The third row, while spacious in terms of shoulder and headroom, falls short on knee room, making it suitable mainly for kids or short adults.

Feature-Rich Package

Pros:
The XUV 7XO is loaded with modern tech, featuring a triple 12.3-inch screen setup—covering the instrument cluster, infotainment, and passenger entertainment. Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a 16-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, dual-zone climate control, drive modes, and wireless PhoneLink with ChatGPT integration.

Safety and Ride Quality

Pros:
Mahindra’s reputation for safety continues with the XUV 7XO, which includes up to 7 airbags, Level-2 ADAS with enhanced sensors, a 540-degree camera, and robust braking features. The new DaVinci suspension ensures a smooth, stable ride even on rough roads, minimizing shocks and vibrations.

Cons:
Fuel efficiency remains a concern, especially for city driving. Owners report petrol engine mileage below 10 kmpl in urban conditions, which could be a drawback for budget-conscious buyers.

Pricing and Variants

Pros:
Starting at Rs 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom), the XUV 7XO offers competitive pricing with well-equipped base and mid-variants that deliver good value for money.

Cons:
The all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants, available only on two diesel automatic trims, come at a significant premium—an additional Rs 2.45 lakh over manual versions, which may deter budget-conscious buyers.

Competition in 2026

The Mahindra XUV 7XO faces competition from the Jeep Compass, Tata Safari and Harrier, MG Hector, and Hyundai Alcazar—each vying for a share in the popular 7-seater SUV segment.

Final Take

Mahindra has made notable improvements with the XUV 7XO, combining style, features, and safety. While it offers great value, potential buyers should weigh the fuel efficiency and premium AWD pricing. Overall, the XUV 7XO remains a strong contender for families seeking a feature-packed, reliable SUV in India.
