Narendra Modi Urges Civilian Safety, Early End to Hostilities in Call with Benjamin Netanyahu
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the ongoing regional tensions, emphasising that the safety of civilians must remain the utmost priority and calling for an early cessation of hostilities.
In a post on X, Modi said he conveyed India’s concerns over recent developments and stressed the importance of protecting civilian lives. He reiterated India’s consistent position supporting de-escalation and peace in the region.
India emphasises civilian protection and de-escalation
During the conversation, Modi highlighted the need to ensure civilian safety amid escalating conflict and reaffirmed India’s call for an immediate end to hostilities. He stated that India remains committed to promoting regional peace, security, and stability.
The Prime Minister noted that India is closely monitoring the situation and expressed hope for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and restraint.
India condemns attacks on UAE, expresses solidarity
Separately, Modi also spoke with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, strongly condemning recent attacks on the country and offering condolences for the loss of lives.
He reaffirmed India’s solidarity with the UAE and thanked its leadership for ensuring the safety and well-being of the Indian community living there. Modi reiterated India’s support for efforts aimed at de-escalation and restoring regional stability.
Talks held amid rising regional tensions
The conversations come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following recent military strikes involving Israel, the United States, and Iran, raising concerns about broader regional conflict and civilian safety.
India has called for restraint from all sides while emphasising the importance of protecting civilians and maintaining peace in the region.
