NEW DELHI: Renault has officially reintroduced its iconic Duster to the Indian market with a third-generation model built on the rugged CMF-B platform. Marking its comeback on Republic Day, January 26, 2026, the new Duster combines cabin comfort, advanced technology, and versatile powertrain options to appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers.

Interior and Features: Modern Comfort Meets Advanced Tech

The revamped Duster features a dual-tone cabin equipped with a 10.1-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, enabling seamless connectivity for music, navigation, and apps. A 7-inch digital driver’s display provides real-time information on speed, fuel efficiency, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) cues. The sound system boasts Arkamys 3D audio from six speakers, delivering a concert-like experience.

Designed for convenience, the vehicle offers ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and a powered tailgate for effortless grocery loading.

Safety and Driver Assistance: Level 2 ADAS Debuts in Renault India

The new Duster introduces Level 2 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind-spot warnings, and automatic braking, aimed at easing urban traffic challenges. Parking is simplified with a 360-degree camera, while hill descent control ensures safe descents. Dual-zone air conditioning maintains comfort for rear passengers.

While a seven-seater Bigster sibling is expected later, the current five-seat Duster emphasizes ample boot space of 472 liters, with rear seats folding flat for larger gear loads.

Powertrain Options: A Blend of Performance and Efficiency

The Duster lineup offers a range of engines:

  • A 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 151bhp and 250Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual or DCT automatic transmission, delivering sub-10-second 0-100 kmph acceleration and an impressive 15 km/l highway mileage.
  • A 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol for city driving, generating 100PS.
  • Rumors of a CNG variant promising 25 km/kg for budget-conscious buyers.
  • The highlight is a 1.6-litre full hybrid combining 94bhp petrol and electric motors for a combined 140bhp, with 80% city driving on pure EV and a claimed 30 km/l overall.

Four-wheel-drive models feature terrain modes—Auto, Eco, Snow, Mud/Sand, and Off-Road—suitable for monsoon treks or desert adventures. Paddle shifters and comprehensive parking sensors enhance driving fun and confidence.

Safety and Ratings

Equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring, hill start assist, rear cross-traffic alert, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and front parking sensors, the Duster aims for a five-star safety rating, blending French engineering with Indian crash norms.

Pricing and Ownership Benefits

The base petrol manual variant is expected to start at ₹10-12 lakh, with turbo variants ranging from ₹14-18 lakh, and hybrid models nearing ₹20 lakh (on-road, Haryana). All-wheel-drive models add a premium of around ₹1.5 lakh. Renault offers a seven-year warranty with low service costs projected at ₹0.40 per km, making ownership more affordable.

The Duster’s return marks a significant step for Renault in the competitive Indian SUV segment, combining rugged performance, modern features, and attractive pricing.
