New Delhi: India’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), has introduced attractive Fixed Deposit (FD) options for customers in 2026, even as banks across the country revise interest rates following a reduction in the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) repo rate. While SBI has also adjusted its FD rates downward, its schemes continue to offer stable and guaranteed returns, particularly for senior citizens.

According to SBI, customers can invest in fixed deposits for tenures ranging from 7 days to 10 years, with interest rates currently ranging between 3.05% and 7.10% per annum, depending on the tenure and investor category.

444-Day ‘Amrit Vrishti’ FD Offers Highest Returns

Among the available options, SBI’s 444-day “Amrit Vrishti Special FD Scheme” is currently offering the highest interest rates:

  • 6.60% per annum for general citizens
  • 7.10% per annum for senior citizens

For comparison, SBI offers:

  • 6.05% interest to general citizens on a 5-year FD
  • 7.05% interest to senior citizens on a 5-year FD

₹1 Lakh Investment Details

SBI’s FD schemes continue to be a preferred choice for risk-averse investors due to assured returns and government backing.

  • A general citizen investing ₹1 lakh in a 5-year FD will receive a total maturity amount of ₹1,35,018, which includes ₹35,018 as fixed interest.
  • A senior citizen investing the same amount for 5 years will receive a maturity value of ₹1,41,826, earning ₹41,826 as fixed interest.

This makes SBI’s FD schemes particularly attractive for senior citizens seeking safe, long-term, and guaranteed income.

How to Invest in SBI Fixed Deposit Schemes

Customers can invest in SBI FDs through multiple channels:

1. SBI Branch

  • Visit the nearest SBI branch
  • Fill out the FD application form
  • Submit KYC documents such as Aadhaar and PAN
  • Deposit funds via cash, cheque, or account transfer

2. SBI Net Banking

  • Log in to SBI Internet Banking
  • Select the Fixed Deposit/Term Deposit option
  • Choose tenure and investment amount
  • Confirm and submit the request

3. YONO SBI Mobile App

  • Open the YONO SBI app
  • Navigate to the Deposits section
  • Select Fixed Deposit
  • Enter amount, tenure, and nominee details
  • Confirm the investment

Once the deposit is made, interest accrual begins immediately, and the returns are fully guaranteed, reinforcing SBI’s FD schemes as a safe and reliable investment option in 2026.
