The IT Forum for Maharashtra has raised serious concerns against Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), alleging that the company is forcing employees to resign under questionable circumstances. Multiple employees have come forward claiming they were compelled to resign, while others accused TCS of using internal exams to make arbitrary employment decisions rather than assessing actual skills.

The latest allegations include the case of a Pune woman who reportedly faced pay cuts, increased workload, and ultimately, job termination despite demonstrating strong performance. The IT Forum highlighted her plight on social media, criticizing the company’s lack of transparency. They claimed she was denied access to her exam papers and results, raising concerns over the opaque process being used to push employees out rather than evaluate their skills fairly.

‘Forced to Resign with One Day Notice’

The forum shared a specific incident involving a woman employee who was reportedly asked to take an AI assessment and was then fired with just one day’s notice. She detailed her experience, stating she was a high performer, handling over 200 cases daily—well above the target of 135 cases—without errors or delays. Despite her consistent performance, she was allegedly assigned a D-band rating, which resulted in salary reductions.

According to her account, TCS mandated her to complete an AI course in her final months without providing proper training or feedback. When she failed the AI test—without being shown her scores or given an opportunity for review—the company used this as grounds for termination. Her manager reportedly opposed the decision, citing her exceptional performance and absence of unplanned leaves, but HR proceeded with her dismissal.

Calls for Transparency and Fair Evaluation

The IT Forum has demanded that TCS disclose exam papers and scores of affected employees, calling for an end to what they describe as “forced resignations disguised as performance measures.” They also shared WhatsApp screenshots allegedly outlining the details shared with the ousted employee.

The allegations come amid a series of similar claims, with the Forum asserting that internal assessments are being used to pressure employees into leaving, often through opaque and arbitrary evaluation methods. The financial daily has sought a response from TCS, and updates will follow as the company’s stance becomes available.
